Happy Shark Week everyone!
Volkswagen collaborated with the Discovery Channel to construct this awesome one-of-a-kind Volkswagen Beetle Mobile Shark Cage for the 25th anniversary of Shark Week.
Engineers from Volkswagen assisted in the fabrication of the cage, which allows divers to interact with sharks while also being able to drive around on the ocean floor thanks the power of two rear propellers.
Marine biologist Luke Tipple also helped with the construction of the submersible vehicle. The structure is made from tubular aluminum and features a set of alloy wheels, the iconic VW Bug headlights, and a built-in air system so that the divers can breathe while they drive (breathing and driving: a winning combination).
Justin Osborne, General Manager of Marketing Communications for Volkswagen of America had this to say about the project:
“We wanted the integration to be authentic and fit naturally with the Volkswagen brand, imprinting our signature style on Shark Week,
the Beetle shark cage plays on the silhouettes of two of the most iconic images, the shark fin and the Volkswagen Beetle.”
